Our Club
Who are BITS and what are we about?
BITS (Boyne Tannum Bowls Club) is a thriving, though small bowling club that is volunteer-run. We are positioned on the outskirts of the twin towns of Boyne Island and Tannum Sands, just off the Bruce Highway about 15 kilometers south of Gladstone in central Queensland. The climate in this part of the country allows us to play just about all year round, with only a shork break over the Christmas period for a quick green renovation. As a result of this, we are able to welcome many visitors from the southern states who have travelled north to warm up during the winter months.

Our club has an excellent grass playing surface, a really open and airy feel with plenty of undercover outdoors area. We have fully air-conditioned clubhouse with a well stocked bar and cool-room, some big TVs, a pool table and plenty of seating. A visit to this club is all about catching up with mates, sharing the gossip whilst having a bit of a chat over a couple of cold ones, making visitors feel at home and, of course, playing some pretty competitive and high quality lawn bowls.
Everything that you will see and experience at the club is a result of the continuous hard work and effort that our members have put in over the years, and because of this all of our members have a real connection to the club, its success and its future.
If you are an interstate visitor who is reading this page, do please take a look at our Useful Links page which we hope will be of some help when planning your trip.
